Microneedling

Why have microneedling

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure involving piercing the skin with tiny sterilized needles. The small micro-wounds cause your skin cells to make more collagen and elastin, in the healing process and making you look brighter, tighter and fresher. It is also sometimes called collagen induction therapy.

Some devices are manual, like ‘dermarollers’, while others are electrical like our Derma FNS pen which produces thousands of microtraumas per minute.

Microneedling can help with:

  • Dull aging complexion

  • Acne

  • Pore size reduction

  • Pigmentation

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Scar revision

  • Stretch marks

Can be used in conjunction with LED light therapy or in a manual device containing mesotherapy serums to target pigmentation, aging, acne or rosacea in the form of a WOW facial.

What to expect after treatment + risks

Your skin will be slightly inflamed and red for 1-2 days, often described as feeling like a mild sunburn.

Occasionally, microneedling can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (changes in skin colour) and there may be some bleeding and bruising if you are on blood thinning medication or have a clotting disorder.

Aftercare

  • No makeup for 48 hours

  • Stay out of direct sun and do not use sunbeds for 7 days

  • Keep skin clean and moisturised

  • Wear SPF every day

  • No exfoliants or retinols for 14 days
