Dermal Filler information

Dermal fillers are injections used to fill out wrinkles and creases in the skin. They can also be used to restore loss of volume and definition in the lips and cheeks.

The fillers are made from a variety of materials and the effects can be either temporary or permanent, depending on the type of filler. I use only hyaluronic acid as it is the safest and most predictable material.

limitations

  • Most fillers are not permanent

  • There is no guarantee that the results will match your expectations.

Risks

The risks for all fillers are the same and fall into 3 categories:

  1. Caused by the injection - pain, itching, bruising, swelling, inflammation and redness, skin infection, cold sore breakout.

  2. Short term - infection, allergic reaction, blood flow disturbance (occlusion) which can lead to skin necrosis if not reversed, blindness, pulmonary embolism.

  3. Long term - granuloma (lumps), migration of filler

During consultation, Dr Garner will give you a full explanation of any risks and their consequences involved in a procedure before you decide to have any treatment undertaken.

All of these side effects and risks are minimised due to the precautions taken by Laura as a highly trained and skilled injector, but risks can never be completely eliminated. The most important ting is that the majority of these issues (with the exception of blindness and PE) can be treated by Laura as a prescribing medical professional so you must contact Highcroft Aesthetics if you experience any issues following a procedure.

prices

The cost of each treatment will be dependent on the amount and type of filler used. Each treatment is tailored to every individual client so prices will vary from case to case.

During the consultation, Dr Garner will discuss how the amount of filler required for the result you are requesting.

What to do if you have problems

If you've had fillers and are not happy with the results or are experiencing problems such as lumpiness, please call and make a review appointment.

Circumstances which require emergency treatment will be fully detailed on the aftercare leaflet.
